Official registration of the organization!
Friends, I want to share some news with you – we have officially become a registered organization in the state of Minnesota. I worked a lot on the documents and with lawyers to get everything right, and recently the lawyer sent me confirmation that the first step is complete. Next, we need to submit documents for 501c3 status to the IRS, which will allow us to: 1) apply for grants, and 2) any donations will be deducted from taxes (that’s how people always give more money). Only with this status will we be able to collect large sums and really help political prisoners and political emigrants in Minnesota. The decision on this matter takes several months. I have ideas on how to develop the organization even after the end of the war, so there will be enough work and it will be very interesting (I think). The organization will have a board of directors and committees in different areas – if anyone wants to participate, we can discuss everything. This volunteer work can be included in the resume and we even already have our first intern - a 4th year student from Macalester College 🙂 While I was writing this post, I received a new letter from Mikhail Simonov as if to remind me why we are doing all this at all. He has wonderful poems - write him letters.
